1-in-3 Gryphon Student-Athletes Achieved 80 per cent or Higher During the 2019-20 Season
Varsity student-athletes at the University of Guelph produced some impressive statistics this past year. But when you look back on the 2019-20 season, there is one statistic that stands out from the rest.
33 percent.
That is the record-high percentage of Gryphon varsity athletes who achieved 80% or higher in their respective field of study during the 2019-20 campaign. Out of the 683 Gryphon student-athletes who compete at the OUA or U SPORTS level, a record-number 231 of those were able to reach the 80% plateau, or higher. As a result, the Gryphons now boast a record ratio of 1-in-3 when it comes to student-athletes earning the title of Academic Award Winners. The 231 total is also an increase of 38 from the previous year's total, when 193 Gryphon student-athletes were named Academic Award Winners back in 2018-19.
