Typically, an event that takes place in the fall, this year's celebration of recognizing our student-athletes that excelled in the classroom took place online, with a week-long roll out of acknowledgment by faculty on social media.

The week came to an close with the annual recognition of the Dr. Mary E. Keyes and Dr. Jack Kennedy awards. Both awards are presented annually, in honour of Dr. Keyes and Dr. Kennedy, to a female and male undergraduate student-athlete, respectively, who best combines outstanding achievement in the classroom as well as athletic and community excellence.

This year's recipients are Gemma Barber of the rowing team, and Dusan Kovacevic of the men's soccer team.

In all, a total of 475 student-athletes were recognized as Marauder Scholars, a designation awarded to those who achieve a 9.5 grade point average or higher over a minimum of 24 academic units while competing for a Marauder varsity team or club.

Nearly 100 more Marauder Scholars were honoured this year compared to the school year prior (376 athletes were recognized for the 2018-19 season).

Of the 475 Marauder scholars, 149 were recognized as U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians, which denotes their participation in national-level sports while maintaining the above standards.
