For the fourth week in a row, the Western Mustangs remain atop the U SPORTS football Top 10. The defending Vanier Cup champions (4-0) received 14 unanimous first-place votes from the media panel and remained first in the Elo ranking to earn all 420 points available.

The top six teams remained constant as the No. 2 Saskatchewan Huskies (4-0), No. 3 Montréal Carabins (4-0), No. 4 Queen’s Gaels (4-1), No. 5 Laval Rouge et Or (3-1) and No. 6 Regina Rams (3-1) all held on to their spots after weekend victories.

The No. 7 Ottawa Gee-Gees (4-1) moved up one spot as they switched places with No. 8 StFX X-Men (4-0). The Gee-Gees picked up a 21-18 win over Laurier on Saturday thanks to a school-record 55-yard field goal by Campbell Fair. Fair’s kick ties the third-longest field goal in U SPORTS history. Despite a 24-hour game delay due to Hurricane Fiona, the X-Men remained undefeated (26-7) over Mount Allison on Sunday.

The No. 9 Manitoba Bisons (2-2) and No. 10 Carleton Ravens (3-2) re-enter the Top 10 this year following wins on their respective Homecoming weekends. Alberta and Mount Allison suffered losses to drop out of the rankings.

This week’s football schedule features two Top 10 matches as No. 9 Manitoba visits No. 2 Saskatchewan on Friday, while No. 10 Carleton takes on No. 7 Ottawa on Saturday in the annual Panda Game.
