Championships Track & Field

U SPORTS announced the national season award winners on Thursday morning, prior to the start of the 2023 FFUN U SPORTS Track & Field Championships, presented by Discover Saskatoon.

On the women’s side, Jessy Lacourse from the Laval Rouge et Or was named the outstanding performer in track events, while Madisson Lawrence of the Manitoba Bisons was named the outstanding performer in field events. Joining them on the honours list are Frédérique Chiasson of Laval, who was named rookie of the year, and Tyra Boug of Guelph, who won the Student-Athlete Community Service Award.

In men’s competition, the recipients included Mathieu Beaudet of McGill (track MVP), Mark Bujnowski of Guelph (field MVP), Tegra Jan-King of Alberta (rookie of the year) and Jake Neufeld of the host Saskatchewan Huskies (Student-Athlete Community Service Award)

The three-day U SPORTS meet, hosted by Saskatchewan for the fourth time overall, but the first since 2006, runs from Thursday to Saturday at the Saskatoon Fieldhouse. Live streaming of the event is available on CBC’s digital platforms (English) and usports.ca (French).
