U SPORTS sits down with the athletes set to don the maple leaf at the World University Games in Krasnoyarsk, Russia in our interview series “Getting to know…”

1. What are your thoughts on representing Team Canada at a major international event, and most specifically at the 2019 FISU Winter Universiade?

This is an awesome event for me, representing Team Canada in my sport was a goal for me and I am going to be in Russia to represent the country. I am very excited about the 2019 FISU Winter Universiade because this is a very big event with a lot of sports and countries. A lot of funny adventures in perspective!

2. Is this the first time you have been selected to represent Canada on the international stage or at the Universiade? Current track record (national and/or international)?

This is my first time in a international event, representing Canada!  My current record at the national level in 2018 is a fourth-place in team sprint with my amazing teammate Catherine Reed-Métayer and a fourth place at the sprint qualification.

3. What are you most looking forward to in Krasnoyarsk, Russia outside of the competition?

I mostly looking forward to an awesome trip in Krasnoyarsk. I'm looking for discovering a new country and new culture. Also, I am sure that I going to find amazing teammates during this trip in Russia.

4. What are your personal and/or team goals for this Universiade?

My goal for the Universiade is to have good races and to be satisfied about all my performances. Also, I hope that Team Canada is going to have fun and have great races during the relay and team sprint.

5. Do you have a nickname in your sport?

My nickname on my team is Scherrari. This is a mix with my family name (Scherrer) and with the car brand (Ferrari).

6. What are you listening to right now / what is your pump-up music?

I'm listening to right now to some popular pop music and a lot of Quebecois songs. My favorites groups at this moment are X Ambassadors, Hippo Campus...And my song of the moment is Zion I from Coastin.

7. Current favorite TV show?

I watching a lot of Quebecois TV shows when am not on my skis. My favorite one at this moment is District 31.

8. What message would you like to share with Team Canada followers / the U SPORTS community?

I just want to say that I am very grateful to U SPORTS to allow me to leave to represent Canada in Russia with a really great team. Thank a lot, I'm really excited to go to Russia!
