In even years, FISU organizes numerous World University Championships in various sports. Please see the list below for more details on each World University Championship.
In total, 146 athletes and coaches will represent U SPORTS Team Canada at 13 world university championships in 2016 – including cross country, golf, futsal, rugby sevens, beach volleyball, orienteering, triathlon, rowing, waterski, badminton, shooting, wrestling and weightlifting – spanning from March to November.

U SPORTS International brought home 12 medals over the last eight months from competition during the 2016 world university championships.
This year, U SPORTS Team Canada earned three gold, three silver and six bronze medals in four sports - rugby sevens, rowing, wrestling and weightlifting.
