1. What attracted you to StFX University?

I heard a lot of great things about StFX prior to my decision to enroll here from friends, coaches and colleagues. One thing that attracted me the most was the culture. StFX is a small school, which makes the school the heart of Antigonish, N.S., and really brings together the community. The classrooms are small, which creates a better learning environment and allows you to have a better relationship with your professors. The school sets the bar high for academics and athletics, which is something that I value a lot.

2. What’s your favourite memory, and your greatest athletic achievement as a U SPORTS student-athlete?

My favorite memory so far at StFX would be the 2017 playoff run where we came together as a group and really bought in to what we wanted to accomplish as a team. It was a lot of fun to win an AUS title on home ice in front of a sold out Keating Centre crowd.

3. Where are you hoping your path will take you after university?

I haven’t really been thinking too far in the future, but I would definitely like to continue playing hockey after I finish my business degree.

4. Who’s had the greatest influence on your athletic career?

Definitely my parents, they have put in so much time and effort in order for me to play the game that I love and they have been the most supportive people in my life.

5. Who is someone in the sports world, past or present, with whom you’d love to have dinner with? Why?

I’d love to have dinner with Marc-André Fleury. He was always my favorite goalie growing up, so I think it would be fun to pick his brain a little bit.

6. What is your pre-game ritual? Do you have any superstitions/idiosyncrasies around preparing yourself for a game?

I have a few basic pre-game rituals. I always eat pasta for my pre-game meal. I listen to a certain iTunes playlist to get pumped up, and I always have the same warm-up routine.

7. What’s your go-to song to get pumped up for practice or a game?

My go-to songs change very often, but one that I have been listening to a lot is Last To Leave by Louis The Child.

8. What’s your favourite social media account to follow?

I follow a lot of dog accounts on Instagram, so I would have to say one of those. Despite my efforts to convince them, my parents are cat people and so they don’t want a dog. So following these dog accounts will have to compensate for now.

9. If you could try another sport, what would it be and why?

I’d really like to get into playing more golf. I think it’s a sport that involves a lot of focus and challenges you, plus I enjoy driving the golf carts.

10. What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you as an athlete?

One time when I was in novice hockey I forgot to put on my jock strap, so I just stuffed it in my hockey pants. Unfortunately, it fell out onto the ice when I went to make a save. The ref had to stop the play, and shortly after my dad had to bring me to the bench and help me take off all of my gear so that I could put my jock back on and finish the game.
