I’ve always been passionate about the game and grew up playing locally. I was lucky enough to play in England and when I came back Chris Lewis (at U of M) encouraged me to work with him.

2. Who are the people that have influenced you most as a coach?

My dad Chris Anderson and former coaches like Tony Ricketts from the Bristol Rovers.

3. How would you describe your coaching style?

I think I’m direct and fair.

4. Which coach do you admire the most, and why?

Jill Ellis. I like her ethos and the way she handles her critics. I also like the fact that she values having connections with players.

5. What is the most “out-of-the-box” thing you’ve done as a coach?

I wouldn’t say I’m a by-the-book coach. I’m always trying to find new tactics and schemes to take advantage of our strengths.

6. What is your greatest coaching moment or achievement?

Getting the head coaching job at Winnipeg. It has been a complete privilege to coach at this level, and be part of the community.

7. What’s the best advice you can give to an athlete and/or athlete’s parents?

Enjoy it. Enjoy this time, enjoy the process.

8. How have you changed as a coach over time? What principles/values, etc. have remained the same?

The past five years I’ve become more confident with how I want to lead. However, I’m also aware that listening to student-athletes is also key. The program, to me, has always been about them.
