Alberta quarterback Brad Launhardt, Bishop’s defensive back Nicholas Cartagenise and teammate Nathan Walker, a receiver/returner with the Gaiters, are the U SPORTS Football Players of the Week, for the period ending Sept. 15, 2019.

Offensive Player of the Week: Brad Launhardt, quarterback, Alberta

Offensively, Launhardt was clutch for Alberta in CW action, as he posted 117 rushing yards, and passed for 275 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His 30-yard TD strike to Daniel Bubelyeni with just six seconds left in the game capped off a 75-yard drive that took just 34 seconds, as the Bears earned a 29-26 win.

A third-year psychology student from Brampton, Ont., Cartagenise tied a school record with three interceptions in the Gaiters' 27-23 win over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday in AUS action

He finished with 89 interception return yards, including a 79-yard return for a touchdown.

Cartagenise also had five solo tackles and one assisted tackle in the win.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Nathan Walker, receiver/returner, Bishop’s

A fifth-year sports studies student from Brampton, Ont., Walker recorded 201 all-purpose yards, including 47 kick return yards and 70 punt return yards in the Gaiters 27-23 win over Mount Allison.

He had a 43-yard punt return in the win and currently leads the nation with 255 punt returns yards and ranks third in the AUS with 167 kick return yards so far this season.

The veteran also caught five passes for 84 yards on the day.
