On this first National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, U SPORTS and members reflect on the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.
As an organization that plays a role in developing the potential of young people and communities, we mourn those children who had their lives stolen and support those who live with the scars of the residential school program.
Today, we acknowledge that the Seven Grandfather teachings of truth, wisdom, love, bravery, respect, honesty and humility are ingrained in sport and commit to continuing to stand with First Nations, Métis and Inuit people to underline the courage of Phyllis Webstad and everyone impacted by the residential school system by wearing orange.
