U SPORTS Conversations Recap: A Celebration of Black Success
U SPORTS announced on Monday that it will not be sending a Canadian delegation to the 2022 FISU World University Summer Games in Chengdu, China.
“Canada is a proud FISU Member, but U SPORTS is not prepared to send a delegation to this summer’s World University Games in Chengdu, China,” said U SPORTS Interim CEO Dick White. “We have consulted national sports organizations and universities to assess scheduling, financial and the health and safety implications of participation in the Games and determined that it was in Canada’s best interest to withdraw at this time.”
Although Canada will not be attending the 2022 Summer University Games, U SPORTS wishes the Chengdu host committee great success and confirms its intentions to participate in the 2023 World University Winter Games in Lake Placid, NY.
U SPORTS will continue to support the Canadian entries at select FISU World University Championships this year and will attend the FISU Annual General Meeting.
