U SPORTS, the national brand of university sports in Canada, would like to congratulate The Hon. Carla Qualtrough (Delta) on her appointment as Canada’s Minister of Sport and Physical Activity

The retired parasport swimmer returns to the role of Minister of Sport, a position she held from 2015-2017. 

“On behalf of U SPORTS, our 57-member universities and our 15,000-plus student-athletes, I would like to welcome Minister Qualtrough back as Minister of Sport,” said U SPORTS Chief Executive Officer Pierre Arsenault. “As a Paralympian, Minister Qualtrough understands the importance that sport and physical activity plays in the life of Canadians. We look forward to working with her to build upon the legacy of Minister St-Onge to advance opportunities for student-athletes across Canada.” 

U SPORTS would like to thank The Hon. Pascale St-Onge (Brome-Missisquoi) for her leadership during her time as Minister of Sport, particularly her efforts in the area of safe-sport. 

U SPORTS receives funding from Sport Canada to deliver programming in support of the Government of Canada’s vision to deliver high-performance opportunities for our student-athletes and to promote sports participation among all Canadians, from playground to podium.
