Regina back on top, Carleton flies into second place

Winnipeg’s Kyanna Giles and Aiden Warnholtz of Carleton have been named the U SPORTS basketball players of the week for the period ending January 29, 2023.
Aiden Warnholtz, Carleton

Hometown: Ottawa, Ont.
Year of eligibility: 4th
Academic program: Health Sciences
Aiden Warnholtz averaged 32 points as the Carleton Ravens won both of their games against Queen’s and UOIT, lifting their regular-season record to 13-4. Warnholtz scored a team-high 28 points and six of 10 three-pointers in Friday’s 103-89 win. The fourth-year health sciences student also made seven rebounds, five assists, and a pair of blocks. In Saturday’s 86-73 win over the Ridgebacks, Warnholtz scored a season-high 36 points, with 42 percent of the team’s point production. He also added three rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
The Ravens’ next game is the Capital Hoops Classic against the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday night.

Kyanna Giles exploded for 46 points - the most for Winnipeg since joining Canada West - on 48 per cent shooting as well as nine rebounds as the Wesmen won 85-82 against the UFV Cascades Friday night. Saturday, Giles notched 16 points and five assists for the Wesmen in their 63-50 win, helping Winnipeg sweep the weekend against the Cascades.
Giles and the Wesmen play Friday as they begin a two-game series against the Manitoba Bisons.
