Women's basketball player of the week: Ellen Ougrinov, Toronto

  • Position: Guard
  • Hometown: Mississauga, Ont.
  • Year of Eligibility: 5th
  • Academic Program: Teaching

Ellen Ougrinov of the Toronto Varsity Blues had a great weekend playing Ontario Tech and Queen’s. Ougrinov led the Blues to a Wednesday 71-54 victory over the Ridgebacks, leading the way with a nice double-double. Ougrinov was able to cash in 27 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals on the Wednesday night match-up. The Blues fell short Saturday against the Queen’s Gaels in a 81-69 loss. The Mississaugan was able to earn herself 25 points, four rebounds, and five assists in the Saturday night showdown.

The Blues hit the road and take flight to face the Algoma Thunderbirds this Saturday.

Men's basketball player of the week: Renoldo Robinson, Victoria

  • Hometown: Montreal, Que.
  • Year of Eligibility: 2nd
  • Academic Program: Social Sciences

Renoldo Robinson of the Victoria Vikes had a spectacular weekend, scoring over 70 points over a pair of a thrillers against the Manitoba Bisons. Falling short of the win on Friday 83-79, Robinson was able to obtain 26 points, four rebounds, and an assist. The Vikes then bounced right back with a Saturday 103-100 (OT) win over the Bisons. Robinson put on a master class stat line with 46 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while shooting 17-for-26 from the field and 6--for-10 on three=pointers. Robinson led the way in overtime with 10 points to seal the win in Bisons territory.

The Vikes find themselves back at home to face the Saskatchewan Huskies this Friday and Saturday.
