The Saskatchewan Huskies are the new team to beat in women’s wrestling.
Saskatchewan moved to the No.1 ranking following a third-place finish at their own Huskie Invitational over the weekend. The team will next hit the mat at the Alberta Open on Jan. 11.
On the ice, the UNB Reds (12-3-0) are back in top spot in the men’s hockey national rankings after 10-0 and 8-1 home victories over Dalhousie and StFX. The Reds will wrap up the first half of the regular season visiting Acadia and Saint Mary’s this weekend.
In other U SPORTS rankings, Concordia (women’s hockey), Carleton (men’s basketball), Saskatchewan (women’s basketball), Calgary (men’s swimming), UBC (women’s swimming), Trinity Western (men’s and women’s volleyball) and Brock (men’s wrestling) remain at No.1 for another week.
For the second straight season, U SPORTS is using the ELO Rating System for the calculation of its weekly national rankings. Powered by RankR, ELO’s unique algorithm blends a statistical calculation with customized variables that is adaptable across a range of sports. For more information, click here.
