Men’s Basketball News

Paul Jones, a recognizable York Lions alumni, has been added to the Canada Basketball board of directors, the national sports organization announced.

Jones, a 2009 addition to the York University Sport Hall of Fame and prominent figure in the Toronto sports community, joins Leah MacNab of NBA Canada as new additions to the governing body of basketball in Canada, effective immediately.

As a Yeoman, Jones established himself as one of the key players of a successful men's basketball cohort. He took home three provincial titles (1977-78, 1979-80, 1980-81) and was awarded the Kitch McPherson Trophy as most valuable player of the Ontario University Athletic Association (OUAA) championship game in 1981. He was a two-time OUAA all-star (1980, 1981) and captured two Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU) national championship bronze medals in 1978 and 1979.
