Cape Breton’s Kiyara Letlow and Western’s Tyson Dunn have been named the U SPORTS basketball athletes of the week for the period ending November 27, 2022.


Kiyara Letlow, CBU

  • Year of eligibility: 2nd
  • Program: Bachelor of Arts

A second-year arts student from Toronto, Ontario, Kiyara Letlow led the Capers to a 78-74 home victory over the UNB REDS last Friday at the Sullivan Fieldhouse in Sydney.

The 2022 U SPORTS rookie of the year finished with game-highs in points (40), rebounds (17) and steals (four). In 38 minutes of floor time, Letlow shot 15-for-22 from the field and 10-for-14 from the free-throw line. Her 40-point game earned her a top-10 spot in the AUS record book for most points scored in a single game.

Letlow leads the AUS in points, with 22.1, and leads the country in rebounds per game with 15.1.


Tyson Dunn, Western

  • Hometown: Newmarket, Ont.
  • Year of eligibility: 2nd
  • Program: Kinesiology

Second-year Western guard Tyson Dunn put up a combined 61 points over two games this past weekend as Western travelled to Ottawa to take on the Gee-Gees and Ravens.

With back-to-back game-high points Friday (22) and Saturday (39), the Newmarket native proved to be a force on the court. Over 35 minutes of play, Dunn also put up six rebounds, six assists and four steals over both games.
