Brock’s Weinert and Toronto’s Alvarez named U SPORTS basketball athletes of the week
U SPORTS announced today the Top 10 ranking in men’s basketball for the period ending January 8, 2023.
Following a pair of wins over the Regina Cougars, Victoria Vikes (10-2) jumped the then-ranked No. 2 Ottawa Gee-Gees (9-2) to start off the new year ranked No. 2 in U SPORTS men’s basketball.
Queen’s Gaels (9-1) and Alberta Golden Bears (6-4) each moved up one position to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Meanwhile, UBC Thunderbirds (5-5) re-entered the ranking at No. 9, and Toronto Varsity Blues (10-2) cracked the Top 10 for the first time this season.
Carleton Ravens (9-2) remain atop the ranking.
