Ravens return to a familiar perch
Saskatchewan’s Carly Ahlstrom and Caillou Lacroix of Laurentian are the U SPORTS basketball players of the week for the period ending February 5, 2023.
Carly Ahlstrom, Saskatchewan
Position: Guard
Hometown: Calgary, Alta.

Academic program: Kinesiology
Carly Ahlstrom helped the newly top-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies to a pair of dominating wins over the Alberta Pandas. On Friday, Ahlstrom collected 29 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Huskies to a 77-57 win. In Saturday's 79-67 win, Ahlstrom finished with 28 points and eight rebounds.
The Huskies return to action on Friday when they travel to UFV for a pair of back-to-back games against the ninth-ranked Cascades.
Caillou Lacroix, Laurentian
Position: Forward
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Year of eligibility: 3
Academic program: Sport and Physical Education
Caillou Lacroix averaged 32.5 points as the Laurentian Voyageurs split their weekend of action with the Nipissing Lakers. Lacroix scored a career-high 37 points, along with eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block in an 82-81 victory over the Lakers. The following night, the third-year forward had game-highs of 28 points and 14 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Lacroix also added four assists and four steals in a 93-82 hard-fought defeat.
The Voyageurs’ next game is Friday night against the Carleton Ravens.
