Women’s Basketball Player of the Week: Julia Chadwick, Queen’s

Julia Chadwick led the Queen’s Gaels to a weekend sweep over McMaster and York. In Friday’s 101-58 win over the visiting Marauders, the 5th-year senior collected 24 points and nine rebounds on an impressive 11-15 shooting, while playing only 22 minutes. The Ottawan followed that up not only with another big performance, but a one for the Gaels record books. In Saturday’s 95-53 win, Chadwick set the records as she racked up an astounding 43 points, 27 rebounds, and five blocks over the Lions. She secured the win with 21 points and eight rebounds, while going a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, in the fourth quarter.

The Gaels are back in action next weekend as they visit TMU on Friday and Toronto on Saturday.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week: Aaron Rhooms, Toronto Metropolitan

  • Year of Eligibility: 3rd
  • Academic Program: Business Management

Aaron Rhooms scored 53 points over two games this past weekend as the TMU Bold won both games over Windsor and Western. Rhooms had a stunning stat line of 21 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and a block in a comprehensive 92-51 win over Windsor. On Saturday, the third-year guard scored an impressive 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a 100-92 win against Western. In the Western game, Rhooms got the Bold started on the right foot 10 points in the first quarter, and finished strong with 16 fourth-quarter points. Rhoom’s efforts helped the Bold move up two spots in the U SPORTS Top 10, where they are now ranked No. 8.

The Bold return to action this week as they host Queen’s on Friday night and visit Guelph on Saturday.
