Laval’s Jade Bérubé was the top university runner at the 47th Western Invitational in London, Ont., clocking a meet record time of 29:29 at the Thames Valley Golf Club course. The third-year criminology student blew past Catherine Beauchemin’s record by 21-seconds and crossed the finish line 23-seconds ahead of Florence Caron, the second-place finisher.

Bérubé finished ninth in a time of 29:13.3 at the 2021 U SPORTS Cross-Country Championships in Québec, helping the Rouge et Or capture the national banner on home soil.

Max Turek — McMaster

McMaster’s Max Turek set a meet and course record at the 47th Western Invitation cross-country meet in London, Ont., crossing the finish line of the 8-km race in a speedy time of 24:34. The mechatronics engineering and management student outperformed the meet record established in 2016 by a full seven seconds and bested the field by 18-seconds to help secure a top finish in the men’s team event.
