Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week: Allison Grajczyk-Jelinski, Saskatchewan 

  • Hometown: Moose Jaw, Sask.   
  • Year of eligibility: 5th
  • Program: Engineering 

Allison Grajczyk-Jelinski opened her season at the inaugural Dakota Classic at the Whitecap Dakota First Nation on Saturday. She raced along the Dakota Dunes Golf Links and placed first overall with a time of 31:35.5. Her teammates, Jenica Swartz and Kaitlyn Harrison, finished third and fourth, allowing the Saskatchewan Huskies women’s team to take the top spot on the podium.

Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week: Nicholas Bannon, Guelph 

  • Hometown: Shelburne, Ont. 
  • Year: 5th
  • Program: Food, Agricultural and Resource Management

Nicholas Bannon and Gryphons headed to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University. In the 8km race, Bannon finished 10th out of 393 runners with a time of 24:16.1. He was the highest U SPORTS finisher in the race, which was made up primarily of runners from NCAA Division I schools.
