Halifax, N.S. (U SPORTS) – For the first time in 59 years, the McMaster Marauders are the U SPORTS men’s cross-country champions.
Led by fifth-year runner Max Turek, the Mauaders won the team championship after placing five runners in the top 20. Turek won the individual title finishing the 8-kilometre race in a time of 24:21.
Laval’s Phillipe Morneau was second, crossing the line with a time of 24:24, followed by McMaster’s Andrew Davies.
“This has been five years in the making for us,” said Marauders head coach Paula Schnurr. “They worked really hard and I’m really thrilled for our men. This is the last season for our top five runners, so it’s a really good way for them to finish their university careers.”
Laval finished in second place, followed by Queen’s in third.
