Men’s Football News

Despite the cold weather across the nation, the build-up to the 2018 Canadian Football League season is starting to heat up as Mark’s CFL Week culminates with the National CFL Combine presented by adidas this weekend in Winnipeg, Man.

The National CFL Combine will assess the strength and skills of the top prospects hoping to be chosen at the 2018 CFL Draft on May 3. Of the 49 athletes invited to the national combine, 41 of them played for U SPORTS squads, with the remaining eight coming from the NCAA. The athletes will look to impress CFL scouts during the two-day combine, which will include the 40-yard dash, bench-press, individual player and one-on-one drills.

The reigning Vanier Cup champion Western Mustangs will have five members at the combine, while the Calgary Dinos will have the largest contingent present with six. The last time a U SPORTS player went first overall was when Laval’s offensive lineman Pierre Lavertu was picked by the Calgary Stampeders in the 2014 CFL Draft. You can see this weekend’s entire national combine roster here.

The combine will be live streamed on CFL.ca/live and on the CFL Facebook page.
