Acadia running back Dale Wright, Montreal halfback Marc-Antoine Dequoy and Montreal linebacker Jean-Phillipe Lévesque are the U SPORTS Football Players of the Week, for the period ending November 10, 2019. 

Acadia Axemen running back Dale Wright is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Nov. 10, 2019.

A business student in his third year of eligibility from Markham, Ont., Wright was named championship MVP of the Subway AUS Loney Bowl, presented by Keep It Social, Saturday in Wolfville, N.S.

He finished with 118 rushing yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns in Acadia’s 31-1 win over the Bishop’s Gaiters to capture the conference title.

With the win, the Axemen advance to host the Montreal Carabins in the U SPORTS Uteck Bowl this Saturday, Nov. 16 in Wolfville.

Montreal Carabins halfback Marc-Antoine Dequoy completed 6.5 tackles and had a pick six on Saturday, contributing to his team’s 25-10 victory over the Laval Rouge et Or in the RSEQ Final.

Dequoy returned the interception 85 yards to the endzone late in the third quarter to give the visitors a 25-3 lead over their archrivals and essentially put the game away.

Montreal Carabins’ linebacker Jean-Philippe Lévesque had an outstanding performance in his team’s 25-10 victory over the Laval Rouge et Or Saturday in the RSEQ Final by blocking a punt in the second quarter.

Lévesque exploded over the line of scrimmage and blocked the punt. The ball was later recovered by his teammate Benoit Marion and the Carabins never looked back from there, defeating their archrivals and picking up their first Dunsmore Cup victory in four years.
