Offensive Player of the Week: Matthew Peterson, Alberta

Matthew Peterson sped past the then-No. 3-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies and contributed to Alberta’s upset 26-22 win on Friday in Saskatoon. Peterson was unstoppable all night, as he achieved a new career-high by rushing 191 yards, finishing with 295 all-purpose yards. His night was highlighted by 104-yard rush in the third quarter that set a new program record and is tied for the ninth-longest run in U SPORTS history.

Defensive Player of the Week: Gabriel Royer, Bishop’s

  • Position: Linebacker

Gabriel Royer carried the weight of the Gaiters’ defensive line with 9.5 tackles (seven solo and five assisted) and 2.5 tackles for loss in Saturday afternoon’s 40-9 win over the Acadia Axemen at home in Lennoxville. The linebacker now has 22 tackles for the season, giving him the top spot in the AUS. Royer also recorded one half sack, an interception and a pass break up in the game.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Othman Brahm, Carleton

  • Position: Kick Returner/ Defensive Back
  • Hometown: Laval, Que.

Othman Brahm played an exhilarating game and proved himself to be a key player in the Carleton Ravens’ 52-0 victory over the York Lions in Toronto on Saturday afternoon. The third year defensive back ran back five punts for 165 yards and took an 80-yard touchdown return to the house only four minutes into the second quarter. Through his efforts, Brahm successfully seized the top spot in the OUA for punt return average with 24.7 yards over nine attempts.
