2022 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms Women’s Hockey Championship QF #4: No. 1 Concordia cruises to 7-0 quarter-final win over host UPEI

CHARLOTTETOWN (U SPORTS) – The UBC Thunderbirds carried a strong start to the finish line as they defeated the McGill Martlets 4-0 to advance to the 2022 Cavendish Farms U SPORTS Championship consolation final.
Shay-Lee McConnell got the scoring started 6:15 into the first period when she put away a wrist shot while falling. Six minutes later, Rylind MacKinnon buried a rebound off Ireland Perrott’s shot to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.
Ashley McFadden extended the lead early in the third period when she poked home a shot that bounced off goaltender Tricia Deguire at 1:46. Mia Bierd then put the game away with a wrist shot at 10:53.
UBC’s Elise Hugens made 25 saves for the shutout, while Deguire turned aside 29 shots in the loss.
With the win, the Thunderbirds advance to Sunday morning’s consolation final. Puck drops at 11 a.m. (Atlantic time)
