Sophomore forward Katie Chomiak of the Nipissing Lakers had a big weekend to start the 2022-23 Women's Hockey season, scoring three goals, including a game-winner, as well as adding an assist to help the Lakers defeat York 5-2 and TMU 4-1 on the road last week.

A science student from Hamilton, Ont., Kyle Maksimovich put together his best weekend of the season, recording six points for the UPEI Panthers over two games to be named the U SPORTS Men's Hockey player of the week.

The third-year forward netted a hat trick and an assist in Friday's 9-1 win over Saint Mary's, the Huskies' first loss of the season. Maksimovich followed up with two more helpers in UPEI's 5-3 victory over the Acadia Axemen on Saturday.
