Mackenzie Kordic led the UBC Thunderbirds to a pair of victories against Manitoba over the weekend. On Friday, she stole the show with two goals and three assists in an 8-2 win. The next day, she added another goal to her tally the T-Birds’ 5-0 shutout win. The fourth year forward propelled herself to the top of the Canada West leaderboard with 12 points early into the season. Kordic’s performance on the rink also contributed to UBC picking up the No. 1 spot in this week’s U SPORTS ranking.
Dalton Duhart was instrumental in Queen’s two weekend games at home in Kingston last weekend. The Michigander, and former Saginaw Spirit, recorded three goals and one assist in a hard-fought 5-3 win against the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday. He pursued his quest on Saturday with two goals and two assists in a 4-2 win over the Carleton Ravens, helping the Gaels open the season at No. 8 in the country. Duhart currently leads the OUA in both points (14) and goals (7) after the second week of regular season.
