Jenna Morais upheld her role as captain as she scored the two game-winning goals in a pair of wins over the weekend, their first of the season. On Friday night, she scored the Ravens’ first goal in a 2-0 victory over the Carabins. On Saturday, she scored a goal in the second period tying with the GeeGees at 1-1. Then, in double overtime, the fourth year forward fought her way to a second goal to bring home another victory and be awarded first star honours.
Liam Hawel scored four goals over two back-to-back victories over the weekend. The third-year business student also earned first star honours for both performances. On Friday night, he scored a goal in the first period, followed by another one in the second in the X-Men’s 4-3 victory over Acadia. On Saturday, Hawel scored another two goals in the first period (the second coming on a power play) to lead the X-Men over Saint Mary’s 4-3. His performance led STFX to sit in secondplace in the AUS as four X-Men stand within the league’s top 20 scorers.
