U SPORTS Weekend Watch: No.2 Queen’s Gaels Look to Clinch Undefeated Season in Women’s Rugby

No. 9 McMaster @ No.2 Queen’s

The No. 9 McMaster Marauders (2-1) will travel to Nixon Field in Kingston as the No. 2 Queen’s Gaels (3-0) look to cap an undefeated season.

Queen’s is coming off a bye week after defeating the Guelph Gryphons 31-3. McMaster is also coming off a bye, after besting the Brock Badgers 19-12 the previous week.

The Gaels will begin the OUA Playoffs next week, ahead of hosting the U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship from Nov. 10-14.

Men’s Hockey

Regina @ No. 3 Alberta

UPEI @ No. 5 Acadia

Canada West hockey action continues this Friday as the No. 3 Alberta Golden Bears (1-1-0) host the Regina Cougars (0-2-0) in their first tilt of the season.

The Cougars will be looking for their first victory of the season, but the 2019 U SPORTS Cup finalists, Golden Bears, will attempt to show Regina why they’re the top-ranked Canada West team heading into their first week of action.

 In the AUS, the No.5 Acadia Axemen (2-3-0) will play host to the UPEI (2-2-1) Panthers this Saturday. The Axemen, currently in fifth place in AUS standings will look to defenceman Garrett McFadden for a spark. In his third year in an Axemen jersey, McFadden has three goals and four assists through five games.

Women’s Volleyball

Montreal @ Ottawa

In RSEQ action, the Ottawa Gee-Gees (0-0) kick off their women’s volleyball season, playing host to the Montreal Carabins (0-1) Friday evening.

Ottawa is playing their first regular-season game of the year since their matchup against UQTR was postponed and will be eager to compete against the well-rounded Carabins team.

Montreal began the season with a loss, but their 10.5 kills per set leads the RSEQ Conference. The Carabins also have won six consecutive RSEQ titles.
