Women’s Hockey Player of the Week: Ekaterina Pelowich, St. Thomas

Ekaterina Pelowich helped St Thomas compile two victories over the weekend, giving them the No. 3 spot in the AUS standings. On Friday night, she scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Dalhousie, at home in Fredericton. The following day, Pelowich successfully scored two goals in the Tommies’ 4-3 (OT) upset of the then-No.6-ranked STFX X-Women. The third-year forward currently sits at No. 8 tied for points scored in the AUS, with four goals and one assist.

Men’s Hockey Player of the Week: Olivier Adam, Moncton

Olivier Adam was a key element in helping the Aigles Bleus pick up two victories on the road over the weekend. On Friday night, Adam saved 32 shots in a 5-2 win over Saint Mary’s. The next day, as the Aigles Bleus travelled to Wolfville, N.S., he made another 30 saves and was the game’s first star in Moncton’s 3-1 win against the Acadia Axemen. The rookie goaltender currently sits at No. 6 in the AUS goalie standings, with a 0.911 save percentage. The former Sherbrooke Phoenix has also notably helped his team rise to the No. 2 spot in the AUS rankings, behind defending national champions UNB.
