Championship Schedule

Frenette found the back of the net after Simon Lafrance fed him a pass from behind the net to beat McGill goalie Alexis Shank.

After playing a part in every goal of UQTR’s quarterfinal game, Lafrance once again made big plays to help secure the win. He opened the scoring for the Patriotes eight minutes in on a power play. Edouard Cournoyer gave UQTR the lead again with three minutes left to play in the first period. William Dumoulin extended the Patriotes’ lead early in the second period, and after three unanswered goals from McGill, Vincent Milot-Ouellet tied it back up at the end of the period just seven seconds after the Redbirds took the lead.

Alexis Gravel stopped 25 shots to help UQTR secure the win.

Xavier Fortin tied it up for McGill with the team’s first goal of the game 14 minutes in. Alexandre Gagnon scored his first goal of the night just 20 seconds after going down 3-1, before tying it up at three goals apiece seven minutes later. Eric Uba gave the Redbirds their first lead with less than a minute to play in the second period.

Shank made 23 saves for McGill.

The McGill Redbirds will play the TMU Bold on Sunday morning for the bronze medal, while the UQTR Patriotes will take on the undefeated defending champions in the UNB REDs for the David Johnston University Cup Sunday evening.
