No. 2 StFX X-Women battle it out against conference rival       

The No. 2 StFX X Women are on the road this weekend as they return to regular AUS play with a game against the No. 8 Acadia Axewomen. The X-Women are coming off a pair of exhibition series loses against No. 1 Ottawa and No. 5 Queen’s. On the other hand, the Axewomen are coming off a 57-12 win against UPEI. With regular season play coming to a close this weekend, both teams will be gunning for the win as they prepare for playoffs. Catch the action at:

Meanwhile, in the OUA semifinals, the Brock Badgers will look to upset the undefeated Guelph Gryphons (Saturday, 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT), and McMaster and Queen’s will play a rematch of last year's semifinal (Saturday, 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT) which Queen's hung on for a 20-15 victory. The winners of these matches will move to the OUA final and earn an automatic berth into the U SPORTS Championship, hosted by Acadia in Wolfville, N.S.

Women’s Soccer

Clean sheet on the line for No. 1 Montreal

No. 1-nationally ranked Montreal is looking to carry an unbeaten 10-game run heading into a weekend set against Sherbrooke and rival No. 4 Laval. The Carabins are coming off of a disappointing 0-0 draw against UQTR. However, the Blues have maintained a clean sheet for over a year now and will look to continue that streak going into the weekend. Their biggest test will come on Sunday against the Rouge et Or, with whom they tied their first meeting 0-0 back in August. The action gets underway at:

Men’s Soccer

 No. 3 York head to OUA West rival No. 7 Guelph

Two of the Top 10 soccer teams in the nation will go head-to-head this weekend as the No. 3 York Lions and No. 7 Guelph Gryphons face off for the second time this season. The Lions are led by Omar Marzouk, who is ranked second in the nation in goals scored with 12. Guelph’s very own and U SPORTS Male Athlete of the Month for September, Jace Kotsopoulos, leads the country in scoring with 15 goals on the season, as the Gryphons are just two points behind the Lions in the standings. These two teams will be facing off for the first time since late August, where York won by a score of 3-2. You can watch the game Friday night at:

Women’s Hockey

OUA opens regular season with No. 10 Nipissing headed to UOIT

No. 10 Nipissing opens the OUA regular season on the road at UOIT on Friday and Queen’s on Saturday. As a team that’s gradually risen through the ranks, the Lakers will look to improve this year starting with two road wins. They had an impressive season last year, finishing third in goals scored, and ending their season in fourth place in the OUA. Nineteen members of that squad will be returning for this season, along with gaining five recruits. Puck drop is at:

No. 2 Alberta back in action on the road in Manitoba

The defending national champion and No. 2-ranked Alberta Pandas are looking to put their season into second gear after splitting their opening weekend against No. 3 Saskatchewan with a trip to Manitoba this weekend. The Bisons also split their opening weekend series against Calgary. With their week-long break behind them, both teams will be rested and refreshed looking to sweep the series. Puck drop is at:

Individual sports

Swimmers dive into new season, cross country returns with full slate of races

The U SPORTS swim season officially kicks off this weekend with a pair of meets in Ontario and Quebec. It all starts Friday, as the Sherbrooke Vert & Or host the first RSEQ meet of the season. The action shifts to the OUA on the weekend, with Guelph hosting the OUA Sprint Invitational Saturday and Brock playing host to the Badger Invitational Sunday.

Meanwhile, after just one interlock meet over Thanksgiving Weekend, cross country kicks into high gear with just two weeks left in the regular season. On Friday, McMaster welcomes the best of the OUA to the Marauder Bayfront Open, while on Saturday Victoria and Moncton play host to their own invitational meets in Canada West and the AUS, respectively. Carleton and Ottawa wrap things up by participating in the Jim Howe Memorial Race Sunday as part of the Capital XC Challenge.
