No. 8 MacEwan Griffins @ No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds
The defending U SPORTS champion MacEwan Griffins are set to take on the top-ranked UBC Thunderbirds in what is expected to be an electric matchup between the two sides.
The U SPORTS Women's Soccer top ranked T-Birds are soaring out of the gates with a 3-0 record while outscoring opponents 14-0 thus far. UBC's defensive game has been stout in not yet surrendering a goal against and the offensive production has been explosive.
UBC’s Kaitlin Tolnai claimed the U SPORTS Player of the Week by recording a second-half hat trick in a 4-0 victory over the Victoria Vikes.
The Griffins, coming off a 5-2 defeat off the Alberta Pandas will have had a full 12 days to fine tune their game since they last played and will lean on second-year forward Grace Mwasala, who scored in the last match.

UPEI Panthers @ No. 1 Cape Breton Capers
The top-ranked Cape Breton Capers will kick off their quest for a sixth-consecutive AUS crown this weekend, starting the AUS campaign against the UPEI Panthers.
Cape Breton will rely on All-Canadian midfielder Jose de Cunha as the stalwart of the midfield and last year’s U SPORTS leading scorer Kairo Coore for an offensive jolt.
As a rookie, UPEI’s Samuel Akinsola was the leading scorer for the Panthers, scoring four regular-season goals. The second-year student-athlete will hope to build from his successful rookie campaign and will be tested by the stout CBU defensive corps.

No. 6 Victoria Vikes @ No. 2 UBC Thunderbirds
A battle of British Columbia hits the pitch as the Victoria Vikes travel to Vancouver to take on the UBC Thunderbirds in a nationally ranked tilt to open the season.
This offseason, the perennial powerhouse UBC Thunderbirds welcomed new blood to their squad with eight new recruits. Headlining the class is scrum-half, Grace Turner. Turner, who is fresh off a stint with Team B.C. at the 2022 Canada games will look to gel with an already established T-Birds roster.
On the Vikes, 2021 U SPORTS women’s rugby Rookie of the Year, Larah Wright, will be heavily involved on the offensive side. Wright led Victoria in tries (3) and points (15), while leading the Vikes to a program-best fourth-place finish in the U SPORTS National Championship.

No. 4 Laval Rouge et Or @ No. 3 Montreal Carabins
The duel of the week will pit two goliaths from the RSEQ division. A long-standing rivalry between the No. 5 Laval Rouge et Or and the No. 4 Montreal Carabins will be sure to excite.
Montreal’s Jonathan Sénécal heads into the contest with a 77.8 completion percentage, while Laval pivot Arnaud Desjardins sits at 78.5 percent.
The Carabins secondary led by Bruno Legacé will have their hands full with Laval receiver Kevin Mital. Last week, Mital set a Rouge et Or record by scoring four receiving touchdowns as Laval rolled the McGill Redbirds 37-20.
Montreal will be coming off a bye week after emerging victorious against the Concordia Stingers 26-18 in Week 1.
