Laval takes down Guelph to avance to U SPORTS rugby gold medal game

VICTORIA (U SPORTS) – Lizzie Gibson struck for nine points as the Queen’s Gaels topped the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees 22-17 in the second semifinal at the 2022 U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship on Nov. 4.
Queen’s tries were scored in the ninth, 24th, and 30th minutes by Madeline Kushner, Amelia Stapley and Madison Donnelly, respectively, while Ketsia Kamba replied in the 40th, Deborah Oyetoran in the 51st, and Sophie McDonald in the 70th minute in a losing cause for Ottawa.
With this win, Queen’s advances to play Laval on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. PT in the championship final, while Ottawa takes on Guelph in the bronze medal game Sunday.
