Monday Morning Quarterback: Dinos, Griffins shut out rivals in CW women soccer openers
Calgary Dinos midfielder Montana Leonard was named the Canada West Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after notching a goal and an assist in a season opening win.
Leonard’s goal to open the scoring in the 16th minute held up as Saturday’s game-winner. The fifth-year got in on the scoring again in the 82nd minute, assisting on Amy Mikuska’s goal that gave the Dinos a 3-0 advantage. Leonard applied offensive pressure all afternoon for the defending conference champions, racking up five shots on goal.
