Toronto, Ont. – The UBC Thunderbirds look to become the first repeat champions since 2013, when they kick off the 2021 Protocase U SPORTS Women’s Soccer Championship, presented by Bell Aliant Thursday at 1 pm AT against the Acadia Axewomen.

The winner of that quarterfinal will advance to face the victorious side from the first game of the tournament between the OUA Champion Queen’s Gaels and the MacEwan Griffins. The 10:30 am AT game will be the first for MacEwan at a U SPORTS women’s soccer championship since making the jump from the CCAA in 2014.

The other quarterfinal bracket sees the host Cape Breton Capers take on the Canada West champion Trinity Western Spartans at 5:30 pm AT, followed by the RSEQ champion Laval Rouge et Or hosting the Western Mustangs in the nightcap at 8 pm AT.

The championship will be played at CBU Field on the campus of Cape Breton University. Tickets can be purchased by calling the CBU Box Office at 902-563-1652 or email caperstickets@cbu.ca.

U SPORTS is also proud to announce that as a part of the Nike Team partnership through distributor T. Litzen Sports, the Nike Merlin ball will be the official game ball for the 2021 championship.
