Katalin Tolnai is the first U SPORTS women’s soccer player of the week for the 2022 season after an impressive three-goal performance in a 4-0 UBC win over the Victoria Vikes last Thursday in Vancouver.

Tolnai, a third-year student in the UBC Sauder School of Business, scored her three goals in a 7:22 span early in the second half to give the No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds their third victory of the young season. Tolnai scored in the 51’, 56’ and 58’ minutes to earn the honours.

The Mailman delivered last weekend, as UNBC forward Mike Henman became the first Canada West men’s soccer player to score hat-tricks in back-to-back games en route to being named the U SPORTS men’s soccer player of the week award for the Week of September 5, 2022.

Henman scored six of the seven goals that the UNBC Timberwolves netted against the UVIC Vikes in a pair of wins last weekend. He scored in the 2’, 16’ and 65’ minute in Friday’s 4-1 victory and in the 10’, 35’ and 90’ minute in Saturday’s 3-0 shutout victory as UNBC moved into third place in the Canada West Pacific Division with a 2-1-1 record.
