U SPORTS and the host committee are pleased to announce Ocean Group as the presenting sponsor of the 2022 U SPORTS women’s soccer championship to be held November 10-13 at Université Laval in Quebec City.
The event that brings together the top eight women’s university soccer teams from across Canada will now be known as the 2022 U SPORTS women’s soccer championship presented by Ocean Group.
Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2022, Ocean Group is a major Quebec marine services company that operates mainly in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and the Caribbean. More than 1,100 employees carry out a multitude of projects in the three main sectors of complementary activities offered, namely shipbuilding and repair, harbour towage and the transport and rental of specialized marine equipment and dredging.
“Ocean Group is proud to be associated with a national event and thus contribute to the success of women’s soccer student-athletes at Université Laval. As a flagship of the Canadian maritime community, we recognize the importance of investing in the next generation, who represent the future of our society,” said Carole Goudreault, Executive Vice-President Talent and Cultures at Ocean Group.
According to U SPORTS Chief Sport Officer Lisette Johnson-Stapley, “Ocean Group is a Canadian integrated marine success story. We are excited to have a leading eco-conscious marine services company join us in celebrating women’s university soccer. We appreciate their support in bringing the 2022 U SPORTS women’s soccer championship back to Quebec City and look forward to a fantastic championship in November.”
Jean-Noël Corriveau, the assistant athletic director of the Rouge et Or program, agrees. “We are fortunate to be able to collaborate with a company that wants to contribute to the championship’s success as Ocean Group is doing with us this year. A partnership of this type makes the difference in several respects in the success of the organization of an event, and we sincerely thank them.”
The 2022 U SPORTS women’s soccer championship presented by Ocean Group will be the third time that Quebec City has hosted the Canadian university championship. 1997 was the first time the turf at Université Laval welcomed the championship, with the second championship occurring in 2014. Tournament passes and Single-Day Tickets are available for purchase online.
