Audrey Leduc, Laval

Audrey Leduc is the U SPORTS athlete of the week in women’s Track and Field after she continued her electric start of the season with another record-breaking performance. The three-time RSEQ all-star contributed to 34 of the 135 points the Laval Rouge et Or accumulated on their way to victory at the McGill Team Challenge in Montreal last weekend. Leduc broke the RSEQ record in the 60-metre dash with a crushing time of 7.29 seconds. Her dominating performance didn’t stop there as she won another gold medal with her quartet in the 4x200 metres race and came away with the silver medal in the long jump event with a leap of 5.75 metres.

The Laval Rouge et Or will be back in action on Feb. 17 at Carleton University in the Last Chance Invitational.

Manu Désilets, Western

Manu Désilets of Western’s Mustangs had a phenomenal performance at the Penn State National Open this past week. Désilets swept the competition and won gold in the heptathlon scoring 5045 points. This score moves Désilets up to the top spot in the U SPORTS men’s track rankings for this season and is third on the Mustangs’ All-Time list. Désilets had an impressive six personal bests within the heptathlon including the 60m, long jump, shot put, 60m hurdles, pole vault and the 1000m.

Désilets and the rest of the Mustangs are set to compete in this Friday’s York Open.
