Women's Track and Field athlete of the week: Milenne Habash, Guelph

  • Year of Eligibility: 3rd
  • Academic Program: Biological Science

Milenne Habash of the Gryphons was named U SPORTS women’s track athlete of the week after she jumped 6.07 metres in the long jump at the Wolverine Invitational this past weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich. The 21-year-old Habash set a new schoo record for the University of Guelph becoming the first Gryphon to jump over six metres. Habash’s jump not only also set a new record for the Wolverine Invitational, which draws competitors from around the NCAA as well as U SPORTS, but also beat the U SPORTS championship record of 5.91 meters.

The Gryphons are back in action this week with athletes competing at U of T Fred Foote Classic, the Ottawa Winter Classic, and the Don Wright Invitational in London, Ont.

Men's Track and Field athlete of the week: Max Davies, Guelph

  • Events: 1000m, 1500m, 4x800m
  • Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
  • Year of Eligibility: 3rd
  • Academic Program: Management

Max Davies of the Gryphons finished first in the men's 1000m run with a time of 2:22.59 at the Can-Am Classic in Windsor, five seconds ahead of any other student athlete competing, and setting a meet record for the Can- Am Classic. Davies now sits at the top of the U SPORTS leaderboard for the men’s 1000m with a three-second lead over his next competitor.
