Men’s Volleyball
The Calgary Dinos have earned at least a share of the No.1 ranking in women’s volleyball.
The Dinos (21-3 / 2-0 playoffs) and Montreal Carabins (18-2) sit tied atop the penultimate poll of the season, after Calgary qualified for the U SPORTS Championship at Laval two weeks from now by sweeping its Canada West best-of-three quarterfinal over Mount Royal. It’s the first time the Dinos have tied for the No.1 ranking since Jan.23, 2007 when they also shared top spot with Montreal. Calgary will host Alberta in a best-of three conference semifinal this weekend, while Montreal will do the same against UQAM.
In other U SPORTS rankings, Carleton (men’s and women’s basketball), and Guelph (men’s and women’s track and field) remain at No.1 in the final rankings of the season in their respective sports ahead of U SPORTS Championships taking place next weekend. UNB (men’s hockey) Manitoba (women’s Hockey), and Trinity Western (men’s volleyball) all remain national leaders for another week.
Note: The final U SPORTS Top 10 Tuesday of the 2017-18 season will be published next week, with the last rankings for men’s and women’s hockey and men’s and women’s volleyball.
