U SPORTS announced on Thursday that it is moving the 2022 Cavendish Farms University Cup men's hockey championship to Wolfville, NS, in addition to the cancellation of the 2022 Wrestling Championships.
“Due to scheduling conflicts, U SPORTS, Acadia University Sports and Entertainment Atlantic (SEA) have chosen to move the 2022 Cavendish Farms University Cup men’s hockey championship from Halifax to the campus of Acadia University,” said Dick White, Interim U SPORTS CEO. “We know that the Town of Wolfville will do a tremendous job hosting the event for all participants.”
At the same time, U SPORTS has decided to cancel the 2022 Wrestling championship due to the safety and security of student-athletes.
"We regret to announce the cancellation of the 2022 U SPORTS Wrestling championships," said Mr. White. "Working with all of the stakeholders, we determined that cancelling the championships would provide the greatest number of student-athletes in wrestling the opportunity to participate in more high quality, secure competitions via longer conference schedules. We thank the University of Saskatchewan for offering to host this year’s event and look forward to bringing the U SPORTS wrestling championship back in 2023.”
