Samantha Adams opened the season by sweeping through her weight class at the McMaster Open in Hamilton from Oct. 28-30. In the 67-kg class, she scored a fall over Mel Morrish of Algoma in Round 1, and followed that up with wins by technical superiority over Simi Jayeoba of McMaster (12-2) and Erin Clayton of Lakehead (10-0). She helped lead the Badgers to a third-place finish in the women’s team category and a fifth-place combined finish.

Ben Reid, Alberta

  • Program: Science

Ben Reid had an outstanding performance at the McMaster Open in Hamilton from Oct. 28-30. Competing in the 57-kg class, the Spruce Grove, Alberta native went 4-0 to win his category. He opened the event by posting two 10-0 technical superiority wins, and then scored a fall in the final match, sending defending OUA champion Francesco Fortino of McMaster to the mat in just one minute 21 seconds and helping his team to a second-place finish in the combined team standings.
