Women's wrestler of the week: Angelina Ellis-Toddington, Calgary

  • Year of eligibility: 3rd
  • Academic program: Kinesiology

Angelina Ellis-Toddington won her match in the Dinos’ Dual meet against the Alberta Pandas on Friday, as she scored a fall over the Pandas’ Maria Sewaik in 2:42. She followed that up with an impressive performance of three wins, all by fall, on Saturday in the Golden Bears Invitational, capped by another win over Sewaik in the final, this time recording the fall in 4:48. Ellis-Toddington’s efforts led the Dinos to a tight win in the team standings, as they scored 50 points, just five ahead of second place Providence (Mont.) and six up on Alberta.

The Dinos will be back in action on January 26 at the University of Lethbridge. 

Men's wrestler of the week: Elias Wile, Alberta

Weight Class: 72kg

Hometown: Rosebay, N.S.

Year of Eligibility: 3rd

Academic Program: Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation

Elias Wile of the Alberta Golden Bears had a perfect performance this past weekend in two events. First, on Friday’s dual meet against Calgary, he defeated Shane Richards by technical superiority (12-2), helping the Bears to a win over the Dinos. On Saturday, he then went 4-0 at the Golden Bear Invitational, winning his first match by fall in only 1:28 and then his last three matches by technical superiority to sweep the five-person weight class. His efforts helped the Golden Bears win the team title at the event with 73 points, 15 ahead of second-place Saskatchewan.

The Bears return to action this weekend as they will travel to Guelph for the Guelph Open.
