Women's wrestler of the week: Brianna Fraser, Brock

Brianna Fraser is the U SPORTS women’s wrestler of the week as she captured her fourth gold medal of the season, going undefeated in the Guelph Open on Sunday. Fraser won all four of her matches by fall with times of 0.24, 0.40, 0.31 and 2:52 in her final win over Vianne Rouleau of Alberta. Fraser’s performance helped the Badgers gain 29 points and hop on the last step of the podium behind McMaster and East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.

The Badgers will be back on the mat at the Ontario Junior Wrestling Championship on Sunday. 

Men's wrestler of the week: Gregor McNeil, McMaster University

  • Academic Program: Commerce

Gregor McNeil of the McMaster Marauders had a model wrestling presentation this past weekend at the Guelph Open where the North York product took home first place. After receiving a bye into the quarterfinals, McNeil won his three bouts all by technical superiority. The Marauder advanced to the final with a 10-0 win, followed by an 11-0 triumph. Finally, to win the Guelph Open, McNeil claimed victory with a TF 10-0 to win 1st place over Isaac LeMorvan of Alberta.

The Marauders look to keep the streak alive at the Western Open this coming Sunday.
