The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are proud to announce that a record 308 student-athletes achieved an average of 80% or higher during the 2019-20 season.
Each award winner will receive a pin: enamel for first-time winners, bronze for second, silver for third, gold for fourth, and a diamond pin for anyone earning this award five or more times during their intercollegiate career.
Baseball's Junya Oshima is our lone double-diamond pin winner, marking the sixth time he has achieved an 80% or higher average while competing in intercollegiate athletics. The Blues also have five diamond pin and 14 gold pin winners in 2019-20.
The 308 student-athletes represents 37% of the Varsity Blues population. The Varsity Blues figure skating team held the highest cumulative GPA with a 3.70, while men's tennis earned a 3.64 GPA and women's rowing a 3.58 GPA.
U of T and the Varsity Blues will announce the four winners of the Top Scholar Athlete Awards over the next few days. These awards are given annually to the U SPORTS/OUA male and female students adjudged to have excelled both academically and athletically during the previous academic year
