A record 193 UBC Thunderbird student-athletes were recognized Thursday morning at the annual All-Canadian Breakfast.
Held virtually for the first time, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this remarkable group of honourees came together online to celebrate their achievements, while also joined by faculty representatives, coaches, staff, and alumni.
UBC President & Vice-Chancellor, Professor Santa J. Ono, also addressed these outstanding student-athletes who serve as true role models for their successes in the classroom and their respective sport.
Each of the 193 Academic All-Canadians had achieved a minimum academic standing of 80% during the 2019-20 school year.
Academic All-Canadians have been recognized by U SPORTS since 1988. 17 years ago, UBC began applying that standard to all varsity athletes and the annual All-Canadian breakfast has been held ever since.
