Thanks to COVID-19, life in a bubble has become commonplace in North American pro sports.
 
And while most sport fans think of the NHL (Edmonton and Toronto), NBA (Orlando), or MLS (Orlando) bubbles as the trial balloons for the return of sport, don't forget about the Canadian Elite Basketball League's (CEBL) successful relaunch in St. Catharines, Ont.
 
The CEBL Summer Series hit the court last month and capped things off Aug. 9 with the Edmonton Stingers' 90—73 championship win over the Fraser Valley Bandits.
 
It was an experience that likely seemed an impossibility as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold in March, and persisted well past the CEBL's originally scheduled start date in May.
 
"I had written them off, and not in a bad way I just felt like there was too much going on and there were just too many dots to connect in order to work out the way that it did. In all honesty, I didn't have a lot of faith that it would (happen) and I had come to terms with that and was ready to move on to the next thing," said recent Alberta grad Brody Clarke, who finished his Canada West career in the spring as the fourth leading scorer in Golden Bears program history.

Despite not expecting to play in the CEBL after being named the CEBL U SPORTS Player of the Year in 2019 during the league's inaugural season, things came together.
